This is a vintage Danish teak secretary or bureau, Model No. 63, by Kai Kristiansen for HNJ Møbler/Tørring Møbelfabrik (Denmark), circa 1960s. With large drawers, shelves, and a workspace, this is a very versatile and useful piece of furniture. This design is sometimes listed as being by HJN Mobler, or incorrectly as by the designer Nils Jonsson.
This secretary has three large drawers on the bottom with long recessed pulls, and could be used as a chest of drawers or dresser. The front door flips down and can be used as a desktop, or slid into the cabinet for easier access to the storage space inside. On the inside there are three teak drawers that can be removed and used separately as trays or dishes. There is also a raised shelf area, and two floating shelves in the upper left with attractive, thin detail.
The quality of construction is very good. Solid teak legs are integrated into the cabinet’s structure. The case is teak veneer over ply construction, no particle board.
It is in very good condition, and was recently refinished. There are some minor repairs and other normal signs of age like small marks, light scratches, minor dings, etc. There is a small area on one of the sides where the teak is a bit lighter in color than the surrounding teak (in a square-ish shape), please see pictures. Overall it is in very very good condition.
It measures just over 35” Wide x 17” Deep x 42.5” Tall. The height of the desktop is 26.5”.
Free shipping in the Continental U.S. is included in this price. International shipping is available, please contact us for a quote. If you are local or would like to arrange your own transport, please contact me for a discounted price.
