This is a vintage Lamino model easy chair and ottoman, designed by Yngve Ekström for Swedese. This is an early version of the chair, probably produced in the 1960s. It has just received an extensive restoration which included new correct canvas, new foam, and new updated brackets supplied by Swedese, and new genuine sheepskin upholstery from Sweden.
 
The Lamino has long been considered one of the greatest examples of modern Swedish design. Lightweight and very comfortable. This early chair and ottoman feature the original brass hardware and dark, solid wood frame which contrasts nicely against the new off-white sheepskin upholstery.
 
When we acquired this set it was in a pretty sad state with an amateur reupholstery job. The previous work had resulted in several screw holes through the front and rear stretchers and innumerable staples in the inner rails of the chair. We had the chair disassembled and the damaged areas filled, and then the wooden frame was refinished. New updated seat brackets and new formed-foam blocks were installed, both supplied by Swedese. The restoration was finished off with new and correct canvas and new super soft sheepskin for the chair and ottoman, also shipped in from Sweden.
 
Although the chair has been restored, there are still signs of the chair's history present. Upon close examination, the few holes that were repaired in the horizontal stretchers can be spotted, and the inner rails have many very tiny filled holes from the staples that were removed. None of these repairs stand out much or take much away from this beautiful chair, and in my personal opinion, minor flaws like these are part of the charm that differentiate truly vintage pieces from something off-the-shelf.
 
The chair measures about 27.5" Wide x 29" Deep x 39.5" Tall. The seat height is 16.5". The ottoman measures about 23.5" Wide x 18" Deep x 19" Tall.
 
The condition is very good overall. Besides what is mentioned above, minor signs of age and use are present. Both the chair and ottoman have the Swedese and Yngve Ekstrom brand.
